Discusses parents occupation, father's work in World War I, jobs as a child, moving into a council house, going to school in Sancton, starting work, growing carrots and potatoes, ploughing, looking after horses, living in a farm house, the saddle house, what he ate, time off, the introduction of tractors, the 1947 snowstorm, meeting his wife, and the land army.
