Originally deposited as a minidisc. Contains reminiscences from Bessie Gibson, Eileen Botterill, and Joseph Thorp. Bessie Gibson was born in Rudston Parva, in 1912. Bessie's interview discusses life in Garton on the Wolds, her father farming in Rudston Parva, going to school in Kilham, what games they used to play, illness and seeing the doctor, starting work as a maid at the vicarage, working as a cook at 'Elms' house in Lowthorpe, her marriage, scholarships, her first house at Fimber Fields, commuting to Driffield, living in a foreman's house, shepherding, industrialisation of farming, and dressing horses for the Driffield show. Eileen Botterill was born in 1913. Eileen's interview discusses how she prepared meals, what food she cooked, kitchen appliances, friendships, events in the village, and food storage. Contains reminiscences from Bessie Gibson, in her 2nd interview, relating to her work hours and time off, her wages, working at the vicarage in Lowthorpe, being a cook at 'Elms' house, moving to a farm at Haisthorpe, working at the hind house and the daily routine, the arrival of electricity, her marriage, moving to Fimber Fields, life on the farm, Irish labourers, 'Spencers' of Driffield taking food orders, transport, the radio, having children, and Martinmas.
